Ultrasonographic assessment of the implant lens required to produce emmetropia after implantation.

چکیده

Present-day implant lenses are esssentially thick lens systems. The usual methods by which the required power is assessed involve treating them as thin lens systems, thus giving rise to error. It is possible to avoid such an error by changing the approach to the problem. No attempt need be made to calculate the equivalent power of the implant lens required to produce emmetropia after implantation. The alternative, presented in this report, is to ascribe arbitrarily chosen parameters to the implant lens, thus reducing the calculation to the assessment of the back surface power required to focus light onto the retina.

بررسی تأثیر اعمال جراحی پیوند ثانویه عدسی داخل چشمی

Background and purpose : Many aphahic patients have unfavorable vision either with glasses or contact lens. In this study Visual outcome of Seconary (I.O.L) was implantation in aphakic patients referred to Imam Hossein Haspital 1994 evaluated. Materials and Methods : In a clinical trial with sequential sampling , 30 aphakic patients (26 males , 4 females mean of age 24.4 ± 10.8 years) who...

Lens vacuoles during phakic intraocular lens implantation

Lens damage during phakic intraocular lens implantation is a major complication. A case of a patient who developed lens vacuoles during toric implantable collamer lens (ICL) removal from her right eye and insertion of a new non-toric ICL due to persistent rotation of the former is presented in this work. As this event is very uncommon when implanting phakic intraocular lenses, the performed sur...

Assessment of Neurosensory Changes and their Correlation with the Distance between Dental Implants and the Inferior Alveolar Nerve after Implantation

Background and aim: Neurosensory disorders after implant insertion are one of the main concerns in implant treatments. Neurosensory disorders can be driven by different factors including the contact of the implant with the nerve, pressure of edema, hematoma, scar, or dental injections. This study aimed at investigating the distance between the implant and the inferior alveolar nerve (IAN) and i...

A comparison of postoperative refractive results with and without intraocular lens power calculation.

Sixty-five patients underwent intracapsular cataract extraction with implantation of Binkhorst iris-clip intraocular lenses (IOLs). For 31 patients the IOL was of a standard power. Thirty-four patients had axial length measurement and keratometry preoperatively, and IOLs calculated to produce emmetropia or 1 dioptre of myopia were implanted. There was no significant difference in the range of p...

Enhancement of Refractive Results after Intraocular Lens Implantation

Summary: An overview on polypseudophakia (‘piggyback’ intraocular lens [IOLs]) is given. Requirements on a sulcus-supported supplementary IOL are defined. Two-year results of a new IOL (Sulcoflex®) are presented and indications for this IOL are defined. Methods: The IOL is especially designed for implantation into the ciliary sulcus in pseudophakic eyes (piggyback). It is a single-piece implant...
